Description:
Jose Dumbo, a lecturer at Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo, Mozambique, makes blood slides. Once back at an institution, he will examine the slides under a microscope to look for malarial and other blood parasites. Blood is also stored on specially treated paper that preserves DNA; those samples are used to search for blood parasites by examining the DNA.
