Closing camp, before its time

Description:
Due to unforeseen insecurité, the security problems that continue to plague eastern Congo, we had to unexpectedly pack up and leave camp one morning. Despite the scare, there were some happy coincidences that allowed to close down camp quickly and make it safely all the way back to Bukavu--a three hour walk plus six-hour car ride--in one day. We used a team of 25 porters to carry our gear down the mountains. Photo © Josh Engel / The Field Museum
